I picked up Aice⁵’s single “Get Back” today as part of my quest to obtain that elusive Horie Yui autograph. Step one is complete, now just to wait until May 24 for step two.

That’s not to say that I did not intend to listen to this single at all. I have and I quite like it. When they announced that Hocchan was forming a new seiyuu unit last year I wasn’t sure if it was something I wanted to follow. I didn’t know much about the other seiyuu and even less about their singing ability. So it was with a certain amount of risk that I reserved both the “Get Back” and “Believe My Love” singles. However with an autographed cover up for grabs I figured the gains outweighed the risks. Now that I’ve listened to the single, I think the risk may have paid off.

The style for “Get Back” is Jpop/rockish and there’s no real complaints about singing quality. (There was one cringe moment, it’s not so bad on subsequent listens.) Kanda Akemi, Asano Masumi, Kimura Madoka, Horie Yui and Takahashi are all capable vocalists and they harmonise pretty well together. All of which makes “Get Back” fairly catchy from the getgo. Too bad there’s no CW song to sample more Aice⁵ harmony but the single was only 700yen so I can’t complain. Two weeks to “Believe My Love”!

There’s a Starchild event happening at Zepp Tokyo on May 28. The details can be found here. Several seiyuu including Horie Yui will be performing at the event which includes a talk, screening, mini-live and other segments.

I’m really tempted to go to this as well. A mini-live is hard to pass up though with the large number of other seiyuu in attendance it may well turn out that Yui won’t get all that much stage time. Still Aice⁵ is sure to perform at the mini-live and that may make it worthwhile. 

June will be a busy month for Hocchan and her fans alike culminating in a weekend packed with events on the 24th and 25th.

June marks the beginning of the Aice⁵ ~We believe your love~ Campaign during which each member of Aice⁵ attends a guest spot at various event spaces around Japan. You can check out who will be where here. Each designated member will bring along another member of Aice⁵ but who it will be is kept a secret (bastards!). This means that Yui will be at one other of these venues including her appearance at Sendai on July 24. There’s also a competition running if you can guess who will be partnering with whom at each event, there’s a chance to receive a poster signed by all members of Aice⁵. The cut off is the May 18, so get your postcards in!

In addition to her Sendai appearance, on the day after, the 25th, Yui will be a guest at Media Factory Anime Summer Festival. She will be appearing as one the cast guests at the 「ゼロの使い魔」 event. Yui plays a character named 「シエスタ」 (it’s not a lead role) in this new anime starting in July on Chiba TV. I’m not going to get into the story concept now. I’ll save that for when I actually watch it.

I’m tempted to go to Sendai and take a side trip for the weekend but I’ll have to decide quick. In the meantime, it can’t hurt to have a go at that signed poster. All will be revealed on the May 19!

Animate has posted the cover for Yui’s upcoming single 「ヒカリ」, Hikari, on their web shop. Hikari is the opening theme for the anime 「いぬかみっ！」, Inukami. It is upbeat and pretty catchy and all in all, I’m looking forward to getting it.

Hikari will retail at 1050yen on May 24, along with the ending theme 「Believe my love」 by Aice5.

As a bonus Animate is bundling a postcard with a comment by Yui for early reservers, however Gamers seems to be offering a B3 sized poster of Yui. I’m not sure if I’m crazy enough to reserve the single twice just to get both extras. Decisions, decisions…

ウォッチ！声優板から。

Most members of Horie Yui’s fan club would know that Hocchan likes her arts and crafts activities. The fan club newsletter never fails to feature one of recent hand-made creations. In a similar vein, there’s a chance to see another of her “work” at 天使のすみか (Tenshi no Sumika) in Harajuku.

天使のすみか is an chain outlet for Volks Dollfie products and offers a service to create custom dolls to their client’s liking. Apparently, Hocchan herself popped by to whip up her very own. (She also left an autograph.)

Her final creation currently on display at the Harajuku showroom until June 9. The original article mentions that this is the first time Yui had made one but the writer says it’s hard to believe as it had such great style. (さすが、ほっちゃん！）

I’ll have to find an excuse to go Harajuku and check it out though they probably won’t let me take photos.

近期除了玩那隻Xbox360的滾動百合XX滾動玫瑰XX之外, 就是玩這隻PS2游戲.

雖然本身是十足Gundam迷的我, 但是以Bandai一路以來出的Gundam游戲的質數之”高”, 這隻游戲本來是不打算買的.  今次會買當然不為甚麼 - 當然又是cast作怪了.  這隻游戲有由衣又有奈奈, 當然要買來玩(聽).

由衣在游戲擔當的是一位在育成模式中原創的通訊員, 其次還負責游戲多部份的旁白和說明指導等的對白.  一向的糖衣由衣聲, 沒甚麼特別好說.  而奈奈擔當的是育成模式中的第二世代女主角, 對就是MS駕駛員.  因為育成角色可以從三種性格 - 熱血, 溫厚和冷靜 - 中選擇其一, 進而影響游戲進行中說對白的語氣, 所以對我這個奈奈控來說實在是再好玩不過的東西了! XD 

唔, 第一輪選”熱血” - 不錯, 一向中氣十足的奈奈叫喊當然不會差得去那, 不過當熱血MS駕駛員又好像熱過頭?  其實不如去玩超級系(G Gundam? XD)可能會更好一點~~~~

第二輪選的是”冷靜” - 這個值得推薦!  真的好有MS駕駛員的感覺.  特別是那句”遅い!”好正啊!  對上某自護Ace時說這句實在是臨場感十足! XD

第三輪的就只剩下”溫厚”了 - 不知道是不是寫對白的那個腦袋有問題還是太惡趣, 竟然是一個天然呆的性格!  那個在名詞後加上”さん”的小女孩口癖真的是不知道要笑好還是哭好. 沒有這游戲的人請想像一下奈奈用瓶妖的くるる口氣說這句台詞 “拜託了, Gundam先生!” ~~~~

甚麼? 游戲本身好不好玩?  誰理這種東西啊 (茶)

houkoholic:  I’m equally lost for words, but then again this isn’t totally unexpected.

sent: I guess we should mention that both Yukarin and Hocchan are part of the cast for Rumble Roses XX. But I still think there is something wrong with this image.

houkoholic:  Brief recap: Yukarin and Hocchan used to work together as a unit called Yamato Nadeshiko, and in several internet based votings by seiyuu otaku, they were voted as the number 1 yuri couple.  So I guess you can say that Konami provided the perfect tools to make the otaku dream come true.

sent: After finding Yui’s character so easily, I thought it was mystifying that Yukarin was nowhere to be found, especially for a Konami title. Having her voice the Edit character is sheer brilliance though. And hilariously amusing. It didn’t take them long at all.

houkoholic:  In fact it only took them 2 days from the release day of the game to come up with these videos….

Details about Yui’s concert DVD have emerged! And getchu, of all places, are taking reservations already. It will be 2 discs (!) and due for release on July 26th retailing at 6300 yen.

My reaction to this news is: 「ｷﾀ━(ﾟ∀ﾟ)━!!」 The only thing it doesn’t mention is whether it’s in widescreen or not but with the current trend in concert DVDs, it’s a good chance that it is and maybe even originally shot in HD… Well, I can dream anyway :P

Everytime I go to one of these events, it is a unique learning experience.

houkoholic and I were at TAF for two reasons. Horie Yui (mine) and Tamura Yukari (his). I’ve always wanted to go to a seiyuu event that isn’t a concert or live singing. It’s a chance to see a different side to their work. This also seemed like a good opportunity to get an impression on the anime fair.
