Obligatory post about Mizuki Nana ranking #1 on Oricon Weekly Singles Chart

She did it. So she’s conquered all of the Oricon Weekly Charts (Singles, Album, music DVD, music BD). She’s been on Kouhaku. She’s done a 30k+ audience dome live (What’s a Budoukan live worth now except in nostalogic name recognition’s sake?). You name it, she’s done it. There’s nothing left in the domestic market for her to take aim at except going on a few more TV music shows just to tick them off the secondary “To Do” list, and the harsh reality is starring right in her face that her domestic fanbase has hit the invisible ceiling even after obtaining all these trophy achievements – the number shows that Phantom Minds isn’t her best selling single in its first week, it came first by external circumstances ie the lack of formidable opponents. So here’s a friendly suggestion, nay, a challenge to her managers: how about following the footsteps of JAM Project and take the initiative in bringing her directly to the rest of the world? There’s a whole new market for you to explore and conquer out there. Go on, show us the “Cool Japan” soft-power that you are so proud of. I dare you!

  1. Azure Says:

Yeah, she’s basically topped the seiyuu world, and had almost all the musical achievements one can have, but I still can’t find her CDs at the local music stores.
But hopefully she doesn’t become a full time singer and still continue to be a seiyuu.
