		<description>What you just witnessed is called a &quot;race to the bottom&quot; when bigger and bigger measures are taken by a bunch of competitors in a manner that turns out to be self-defeating.  It takes its name &quot;race to the bottom&quot; in that the original form was how competing business race to out-compete each other in the lowest price possible.  The &quot;self-defeating&quot; bit comes from when the prices are too low to make a profit at all. 

I wonder what would happen if Japan declared these &quot;fits of idiocy&quot; by fandom unacceptable and made them forms of &quot;public disturbances,&quot; then forbade any lining up until the &quot;fan event&quot; was officially open.</description>
