It’s confirmed! Mizuki Nana officially on Kouhaku
This deserves it’s own post. So no more “tentatively” sort of pussy-footing around wording, it is 120% confirmed from multiple official sources.
And 2ch goes from mini-party mode to full on celebration mode.
EDIT:
Nana-chan’s message as well as her performing a snippet of “Uta no Chikara”, this year’s theme song.
Go get them Nana-chan! You have, without any doubt, proven that you are the best seiyuu artists we’ve been graced upon since seiyuu started singing, no exaggeration as you’ve done something that none of the previous great names such as Hayashibara Megumi or Shiina Hekiru had done. You are the new leader, leading a new revolution of anisong. As a supporter of you since your debuting album, there’s a bit of proudness inside me (and I’m sure fellow fans would agree) to see that we’ve all seen and recongnise the talent and skill you have before the masses.

On her message for Kohaku, it makes me quite sad that she mentioned she used to watch Kohaku with her parents. Since her father passed away not so long ago.
I’m sure all of Nana fans would be happy. She has long conquered Budokan, which is seen as a stepping stone for any singer. It’s a shame it took her this long to get on Kohaku. It’s interesting there isn’t much back slash against her going to main stream, we seem to be celebrating that ‘normal’ people finally reconise her.
I sound too much like a Nanatard…

That’s so true. Her father passed away last year so it’s a great shame that he won’t be able to see her appear in Kouhaku in person. The only shame in an otherwise great piece of news.
As for backlash for her appearance – there’s still a little, but yes it’s mostly been very positive. This is a testimony in itself though, as this just proves that unlike last years backlash, the majority of the otaku-sphere at least acknowledges her to represent the anisong/akiba sector even though they may not be like us unqestioning and devoting Nanatards.

It’s good to hear that she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. As for backlash, well, it happens to the best of us. It all depends on how she chooses to handle it. Good luck to her.
