Chihara Minori’s Birthday Fanclub Event – Also Message 02 coming out in February 2009

A quick piece of news that was announced during today’s fanclub birthday event which took place at Shibuya O-East. Minorin’s second music clip collection DVD is coming out next year.

Although I would really like to write about today’s event, my position for the event was so bad (at the back of the second floor) that I couldn’t see anything at all so all I’ve got were just sounds. So all I can do is give some brief summaries.

The beginning Minorin and her manager apparently showed some footage of Minorin going on a trip somewhere and taking the JR train that is also named Minori, but that’s about as much as I’ve got as I don’t get to see the footage.

After the talk it was the live corner section. First Minorin sang 3 character songs as voted by the fans – they were Chiaki of Minamike’s 過度の期待にご用心。 (Kado no Kidai ni Goyoujin), Nanaka of D.C.2’s 桜笑み君想う (Sakura Hohoemi Kimi Omou) and of course Nagato Yuki of Haruhi’s Yuki, Muon, Madobenite. After the character song section it was the accoustic section with Minorin and her guitar and she sang two songs she composed herself – Iddosen (I think that was the name) Ittousei 一等星 and La La La. I really love her own accoustic songs and wish someday they would release these songs on CD. And finally she finished off with Paradise Lost.

After the singing we gave a surprise to Minori per her manager’s instructions – everyone broke out an ultra-white glowstick which we recieved at the door and sang Junpaku Sanctuary in acappella. While I couldn’t see Minorin’s face, from her voice I’m almost certain she cried. A cake was probably brought out as well as calls for blowing out candles was heard, but I really can’t tell. And that was about it for the event.

Finally we also got to shake hands with Minorin before going. As there were about 1300 people today the handshake was expectedly brief. However I’ll still complain that one person only got about 2 seconds which is even shorter than the Nana fanclub events with 3000 people, so I’m not too happy with the management there.

Didn’t get much satisfaction from this event, especially compared to the likes of Nana and Yukarin’s where there are much more interaction with the fans with all the games and audience involvement while this just felt like a normal concert event, so I hope they can do better next time.

AnimeBlips: vote it up!

..you got 2 seconds handshake with Minorin and still complained? I’d cry and thank God.

I assume this event was taken place in lieu of her usual birthday concerts. I suppose she might have other plans on Tuesday. Also they probably took the mosh-like venue they’ve had before, so reserving it for fan club members only seems like an action they’d take. But yeah, if they’re making the regulations stricter than other seiyuu idols more popular than she is, then I don’t know what to say. Sucks that you got such bad seats, too.

And I second that motion for Minorin to get an acoustic original album out.

    I have standards. :P

It was a free standing concert, there were no seating.
Shibuya O-East is a dance floor/live-house. The second floor is like a drinking area which is not positioned to get a view of the stage. On the second floor only the people right against the handrail of the gallery can see the stage. There were a bunch of us guys and girls that just gave up fighting the crowd and just sat on the floor against the backwall as the taller people all crowded to the front thus leaving the back area with lots of space. There were a couple of projector screens which they showed the videos of, but the screens were lowered to below the the second floor which sort of make them pointless. The setup was just terrible.

Man, that’s sad to hear. Hopefully if enough fans voice their opinions about this then her management team will get a better venue & setup. Even though probably the worst of conditions wouldn’t stop Minorin fans from attending her events…

[...] Houkoholic made an informal post about her fanclub exclusive birthday event. Well, as informal as he could make it, what with the unfortunate setup and what have you. While the rest of the blogosphere raises their cups in light of this glorious day. Minorin was estatic to know she’s gracing the cover of Seiyuu Grand Prix’s December issue, despite having her tagline quite litterally saying she’s a sparkly thing in a heap of poo. I’ve sent an agent to retrieve the mag for me regardless, hopefully with the poster the stores give out (maybe to replace the Hirano one I have on the wall now). But who cares about the details, right? [...]

    It should be 一等星.
She also sang this song during her radio program’s event in Sept.

    しかしLa La Laいいな…もう一回聞きたいw

  7. Neo Horizon Says:

The glowstick and song surprise sounds sweet. :3 How did the crowd sound?

  8. Andrew Says:

Aww… Asian girls seem to get choked up kinda easily (Boa Kwan has cried onstage a few times when fans started singing her songs). Well, that’s why we love ‘em. ;)

I wouldn’t mind shaking Minorin’s hand (though frankly I’d prefer an autograph), but in the end, just seeing her live would be good enough.

And I too second (or rather, third) the motion for putting her acoustic songs on future albums. I think she sounds better with slower songs myself, like with her character songs for Lucky Star.

Thanks for the tip, I’ve edited the post to reflect that.

    > Neo Horizon

Sounds like a bunch of guys singing? XD

    > Andrew

Minorin is pretty versitle, but her recent songs are sort of pigeon-holed into the heavy-beat fast songs with accompany strings type of songs which sounds like Element Gardens composes for Mizuki Nana. I just wish they (Lantis) would stop trying so damn hard to try to beat Mizuki Nana at her game/style and mix in a bit more varity in her songs. Hopefully Parade will have the stuff I’m looking for.
