Animelo Summer Live 2008 announced – and a bit of shocking news from JAM Project
Well they finally announced it – one of the hottest anisong events Animelo Summer is on this year and the official site is now open. A preliminary list of artists attending are already on the site – with familiar names such as ALI Project, Kuribayashi Minami, Mizuki Nana, Chihara Minori, Ishikawa Chiaki, JAM Project, Momoi Halko, Hirano Aya, and two new players GRANRODEO and angela.
This year’s key word is “Challenge” – and with that they are definitely taking some new organizational challenges by not only upping the venue scale from Budoukan to Saitama Super Arena (the capacity depending on layout can be up to double the size), but also splitting the concert into two days, with what appears to be different artists performing on different days. I’m a bit torn on this move – as much as I like the prospects of two days worth of awesome live performances of anisongs, I don’t like them leaving me no choices but to go to both days to see all the artists I want to see.
On a related note, one of JAM Project’s long time female member Matsumoto Rika broke news shortly after the closing of JAM Project’s domestic concert tour that she will no longer take part in JAM Project and JAM Project related events. While hopeful fans were praying that it’s a late April’s Fool, but the profile picture of JAM Project at Animelo reflected this change. It’s a big blow to JAM Project, especially that JAM Project is supposedly doing a world tour this year (and what’s up with that anyway? Hardly any news is out regarding the schedule). Otakon still has her listed as guest, but I guess it’s up in the air.

Oh wow, Animelo is on the my last two days in Japan. I’m really tempted to goto this now but I’ll have to work out if it’s feasible for me to go and not miss my flight home on the last day.

I don’t know where you are going to, but it’s probably impossible to catch a flight after a concert, unless your flight departs around (or after) midnight…

I was planning to go to Animelo this year (now that I’ve saved up $), but I didn’t expect it’s gonna be this late, my uni would have started already.. I guess I have to stick with the DVD again for the 3rd time >_>
Glad to see Ishikawa Chiaki back on the list. But what’s with the 2-days thing — does that mean no Nana and Makkun in the same stage? And the fangirl in me was dying for their duet.. >_<
Anyway if I decided to *ehm* skip-some-classes, how can I order the concert ticket overseas? I live in Melbourne, btw.

Like ヘイちゃん said – it’s going to be pretty difficult to get to the airport after the concert. Heck sometimes it’s hard enough to get home even if you live in Tokyo city. If you’re catching the flight on say, Sunday, then you can make the Saturday session, but if you plan to go to both, better to delay the flight to Monday.

Hard to say about the line-ups currently. The cynical part of me thinks that it is some cheap ploy to get people to go to both days by splitting it this way (and the ticket is damn expensive too at 7500yen each) so they probably won’t have the artists sing on both days.
As for the Nana-chan Makkun duet – they only did that at the first and third Animelo – so it wasn’t guaranteed in the first place…. Though I guess the chances of another ALI Project/Nana-chan duet is going to be high this year, plus they’ve got a promise to fulfil! (ref. 2007 Animelo)
They are running advance tickets pre-order on special Japanese mobile phone sites, plus it’s limited to members only. I would say in about a month’s time they’ll open up special web order and June is probably the public sales. Chances are you’ll need someone to do it for you in Japan though….

Yeah, the promise~ who knows this time we’ll see Arika-sama singing Nana-chan’s song.. would still love to see Nana-chan/Makkun singing, say, Transmigration (too bad it’s not an anisong) :P Well, at worst, everyone gonna sing the theme song together in both days, lol.
Rly? I think 15k of 2-days worth of that many artists is a great deal. I bought Christina Aguilera ticket here for $150.. I’d love to pay double/triple for Animelo. >_<
Yeah, I’ve got someone to buy me a ticket, wish me luck for a good seat~ ^^

7500 is quite a bit more expensive than the usual – most concert tickets for seiyuu/anisong events are between the 6000-6500yen for big venues like these. I wouldn’t mind paying the price (and more) if it was just one day’s worth, I’m just not happy with them splitting it the way it is now because it means double the trouble of fighting for tickets – and I hate fighting for tickets.
As for Transmigration duet – Nana-chan and Makkun sang it at the first Animelo. :P That was also the one where nearly all the female artists came on to sing Nana-chan’s Powergate which was pretty awesome too. Too bad it wasn’t available on DVD.

can anyone tell me what Rica Matsumoto’s message says?
Why did she leave?

It’s a pretty “standard” message – thanking the fans, saying the time at JAM was precious, how it was a difficult decision etc. It didn’t go into the reason of why she left though.

Oh. Damn, I didn’t want to read anything about Animelo 2005 because I could never see it.. >_< That Powergate and Transmigration must be mind-blowing.
And as usual the single will be out only a month before the show.. nuff time to memorize it. I hope it’s something like Outride, but they have the habit of adding more upbeat to the song each year :P
Please update us with new info about Animelo (I assume ur a member? hehe)

It’s alright, my flight in on the Sunday night, and with the concert finishing at 4pm, I have at least 4 hours to get to the airport (well I’m hoping it won’t be an issue getting to the airport, lol). The major issue I face is acquiring tickets since I don’t have any contacts in Japan.

Actually the concerts starts at 4pm. ^^;;
You may have got the first number confused (2:30pm), that’s when they open the venue to let people get in.

Lol, it does? I must have mis-read the site. Damn, then I guess the first day would have to suffice.

Rica Matsumoto left JAM Project only for a while. It seems not to be a “secession”, but it is just a “pause”.
