I think the deeply rooted anime/manga culture plays a big part in the drawing. A lot of the Japanese kids will try to copy their favourite anime or manga character some stage in their childhood, and the more dedicated developes on it and more. Also this generation of seiyuu has a tendancy to be big otaku themselves when they were young who dreamed of getting into the anime/manga industry, so you end up having an unusually high concentration of good drawers in the sample as well.

It seems to me that being able to draw is a more normal thing in Japan than elsewhere. Is that true? I've always been amazed at how well some seiyuu and personalities can draw. Those pages are good work.

I still don't get Inoue Marina's voice's special appeal. I like it, but nothing special. I do think all three of them are doing well in this show, though. Especially Satou Rina.

Yeah I know the radios are good for that, but I'm usually just too lazy to tune in, even with web radio and all that.

Speaking of Negima, just after this post I dug around for Sato Rina drawings and I found a webpage with the seiyuu from Negima doing sketches. Some of them are pretty amazing.

They're actually a lot better than I thought they'd be. Especially Inoue Marina's.

If Kobayashi Yuu was to be part of this, I wonder what'd it look like. Hmm.

I tend to listen to quite a bit of anime radio since you get to know more of the seiyuu's personalities that way. Obviously Minakike is one of my top priorities as I like all 3 seiyuu & I've always followed Rina-chan's/Minorin's own radio shows. Rina's not bad at drawing, she's done some Negima-related sketches that I remember being pretty good. Some of the stuff Minorin drew for Haruhi was nice as well.

I'm an avid follower of Sensei & Ninomiya-kun too ^^;; as are the rest of the seiyuu cast. Like Goto Saori & Asanuma Shintaro, I wish they'd make 'The Battle of Love' game for real - I'd buy it in a flash.
