No not in that way – after turning freelance several months ago, Seiyuu Grand Prix’s website database now lists Hocchan under VIMS. VIMS is a special branch inside I’m Enterprise, which actually belongs to…. wait for it…. ArtsVision. Yes the same ArtsVision that was involved in the scandal which may or may not have led to Hocchan going free in the first place. So in the end this whole incident resulted in nothing more than a short round of musical chair. Absolutely fascinating.

Thanks for this amazing news. Of course, 2channel is now full again of silly salaciousness over this. But I think one post mentioned that Tamura Yukari had made the same transition a while ago. Last June, even as she was about to “leave” them, Hocchan did say that she had experienced only good things from Arts Vision.

Interesting to know. VIMS has something to do with Morikubo Showtaro IIRC -did he not set it up when he left Sigma Seven a coupla years ago…. On another note, what the heck is up with the ridiculous amount of seiyuu moving agencies/freelancing this and last year? Morinaga Rika, Koshimizu Ami, Sanpei Yuko, Sasaki Nozomi, Goto Saori, Koyama Kimiko, the list is endless….
Artsvision has predictably seen an exodus since the incident with the likes of Kobayashi Yumiko, Shimowada Hiroki (hang on, he’s a guy >_

Kaleidoscope have caught my eye with their ‘acquisitions’ – they’ve pinched ppl like Noda Junko, Kitamura Eri, Kadowaki Maii, Imai Asami and Inoue Naomi from other agencies this year.
Dunno if it’s financially motivated or just a change of scenery but it seems so odd that so many seiyuu would be getting on & off the merry-go-round at the same time.

Yukarin “moved” from ArtsVision to I’m due to management issues. The story goes that her manager at ArtsVision quitted, but since her former manager works at I’m Enterprise so they decided to move her to I’m Enterprise such that she could be under her former manager again. It’s pure internal shuffling. Unlike Hocchan’s case where she clearly went free for a short period of time before going back, so it’s apples and oranges.

According to sources I’m Enterprise formed the VIMS branch to accomodate Morikubo’s needs. It’s suppose to have a much better focus on show-casing and promoting the individuality of the seiyuu.
As for the merry-go-around thing, I have my theories, but they are just speculations. One thing for sure though, since the anime/seiyuu industry is so tightly networked and connected, I won’t be surprised that if one seiyuu deciding to shuffle can cause a ripple effect amongst their peers and friends.
