Horie Yui is free…
…to wear sunscreen.
Speaking of Seiyuu Grandprix’s new website. They’ve curiously listed Horie Yui as a “free” agent. No doubt this is fallout from the recent ArtsVision scandal. For those of you who missed the story, the President of the talent agency, Matsuda Sakumi, recently admitted to harassing a 16 year old girl who was interviewing to be accepted into ArtsVision as a seiyuu. The girl told police that she had initially put up with the behaviour while she was in the interview process but when her application was eventually rejected, she pressed charges.
Needless to say this has had massive repercussions throughout the whole company, ending up with Matsuda stepping down and Yui and other talents leaving the agency. ArtsVision is still apologising for it on their webpage though it’s unlikely they’ll shake the infamy of this malfeasance anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Yui is a free agent but I doubt it will remain that way for long.
