Animelo Summer 2006 Outride DVDs - not 1 but 2!
News concerning the the DVD release of Animelo Summer 2006 Outride has been posted on the official webpage. For such a special concert which involves many artists belonging to many different record labels, one can imagine the nightmare of negotiating the rights to release the DVD of such a potentially hot selling item. So what do they do - they cut the concert into two halves and have each record company release one half, brilliant! Now everyone is happy.
So here’s the deal - King Records will release “Outride I”, presumably the first half of the concert, while Victor Entertainment will release “Outride II”, presumably the second half of the concert, each disk will cost 4800yen ex tax, so really the whole set will set you for around 11,000yen.
My only concern is whether they can keep the video production quality consistant across the two different release. I would think that they have the same team do the full video production, and that the act of releasing them under the different labels is just a means to fairly distribute the returns between the record labels. Personally I hope the people at King Records will handle the video production, since their last two seiyuu concert release - Yukarin’s Cutie Cutie Concert and Nana-chan’s Livedom - were of high video quality. It would be injustice to have a bad video production crew to work on such a historic event. *looks at I’ve Budokan DVD set*

I should get one and have someone else get the other and make copies…
Strange way to license this stuff, though. I guess ultimately it’s just a clever ploy to SUCK OUR MONIES. I can’t believe how this is done as a licensing compromise unless originally they were going to charge this much for the whole deal.
