Mizuki Nana’s 「Hybrid Universe」 goes on sale, ranks second on the Oricon Daily Chart
Mizuki Nana’s 5th album “Hybrid Universe” officially went on sale today, and a quick check on the Oricon charts shows that it is ranking second on the album daily chart. This is another big achievement for Nana-chan as her previous highest ranking album “Alive & Kicking” managed a best of 17th, so it looks like “Hybrid Universe” will set yet another new personal record for Nana-chan.

For this album, they apparently decided that the people of Elements Garden, whom gave rise to great works such as “Tear’s Night”, “Eternal Blaze” and “Rush&Dash!” should take charge for the majority of the songs, instead of the usual Yabuki Toshirou/Oohira Tsutomu production. With Elements Garden already more than proving their worth with the songs I just listed, you can’t really blame the higher-ups in making such a decision, and my initial impression with Nana-chan’s new album is that you can really hear the difference in the style - and I like it.
Currently I think the first half of the album, right up to and including “Super Generation”, is more interesting than the second. The album started off with a bang with “残光のガイア” (Zankou no Gaia), the full version of this song really lives up to my expectation. Other highly recommended new tracks includes “Faith”, “You have a dream” and “ひとつだけ誓えるなら” (Hitotsudake Chikaeru Nara). My sole, but very minor complain, with this album is the engrish in the lyrics (though no way as bad as any of the Shikura Chiyomaru stuff before) and that Nana-chan’s English pronunciation is still quite poor. Otherwise though I’m enjoying this new direction Nana-chan is taking.
